Very rare incunabulum edition printed in gothic letters with 34 lines per page.
This is the papal bull on the canonization of Duke Leopold III of Austria, dated "Octauo Idus Ianuary" 1484 (Gregorian 1485), given in Rome at St. Peter's during the first year of Pope Innocent VIII. Leopold III, known as "the Pious", was Magrave of Austria from 1095 until his death in 1136. He founded the abbeys of Klosteneuburg and Heiligenkreuz. He was canonized on January 6, 1485, and is celebrated on November 15.
The printing of this brochure is attributed to Stephen Koblinger, who officiated in Vicenza in 1479-1480, before moving to Vienna in 1482. It exists in various states. This copy features a woodcut initial at the head, while others have a guide letter. The first leaf is signed A and the word "nostri" on the last line is correctly spelled.
(Copy as issued, very well preserved despite a tear without missing on the edge of the second and third leaves, reaching the text, with repairs using small pieces of transparent scotch tape. Some spotting).
