Nepalese Rock Crystal Ganapati / Ganesha - the full round rock crystal head features a round curling trunk and a pair of applied silver sheet eyes, the engraved silver sheet nine-peaks crown with protruding ear elements is embellished with gems: turqoises, corals and a large facetted rose-colored stone, probably corundum, stone facets (several stones) with scuffs and cracks, soldered ornamental high-quality gilt wire appliqués, the back of the image is enclosed in silver sheet (eventually silver plated),on verso with an applied hook to allow the image to be suspended, perhaps in a shrine, formerly coated in a yellow pigment and animal glue mix but this has now largely worn away, silver tarnished, half-moon ornament on the top slightly crooked, Nepal, probably 19th century, H.c.19cm / W.c.12cm, weight approx.648g, attached remains of a red wax seal on a thin piece of paper with typographical devanagari script on it.
