A Chinese gilt bronze table clock in a hongmu case and stand

二十世紀 紅木銅鎏金蝙蝠纏枝蓮紋蘇鐘
The painted enamel clock dial with a Arabic quarters and Roman numerals, pierced hand and sweep centre seconds. The clock face is surrounded by a gilt bronze front plate decorated in relief with a ‘shou’ character, bats and scrolling leaves with a small aperture to reveal the clock workings, the back plate is decorated with scrolling flowers, all set in a hongmu box with a sliding front and rear door, and openwork carved decoration to the sides. The clock is set on an openwork sectional stand carved with further scrolling foliage.
