Two Chinese hongmu pink marble-inlaid incense stands

清十九世紀末/二十世紀初 紅木嵌大理石香几兩件
The taller is of hexagonal section, decorated to the upper frame with a beaded edge, the apron carved in openwork with flowers, leaves and double gourds. Each leg emanates from a mythical beast head with further gourds and vines trailing downwards. The lower x-shaped stretcher is decorated with an openwork bamboo design. The smaller is of circular section, the upper frame carved with a beaded decoration, the apron decorated with openwork prunus with further prunus extending up the legs. The lower x-shaped stretcher is decorated with a flower head.
