A Japanese boxwood ‘lion’ inro
Late Showa period (1926-1989)
Formed of three cases, carved to both sides in relief with a fierce lion below a pine tree, with a further recumbent lion netsuke. All the eyes inlaid with black beads. Both are signed to the underside.
The inro: 8.5 cm. (3 ? in.) long
The netsuke; 4.2 cm. (1 5/8 in.) long
Condition:
Appears to be in overall good condition, a few small chips to the extremities.
