a pair of famille rose yellow ground medium temple vases. The vase begins at the flaring rim, narrows slightly through the neck, widens into an ovoid body and narrows slightly once again to the base. The rim band consists of a ruyi collar interspersed with two bats holding lotus in their mouths on a robin?s egg blue border. Two puce stylized dragon handles cling to the vases? sides. The neck of each vase is covered with an overall stylized lotus and vine pattern between the lobed melon medallions on each side. The Eight Buddhist symbols are interspersed with the lotus and vines. The body of each vase presents a large cartouche on each side. One vase depicts a scholar clad in persimmon wearing a mandarin hat and holding a halberd with two Immortals on Lingzhi clouds, one holding a peach and the other a ruyi. The second scene shows three boys impersonating a mandarin by holding a lotus, narcissus and prunus. The tableau in one of the second vase?s cartouche is of six Immortals and one attendant standing on Lingzhi clouds. The last scene depicted is that of female Immortals with one attendant, one child and flowers -rose, lily and lotus. A pattern of lotus and vine intermingled with the Eight Buddhist symbols surrounds the cartouches. The bottom band is of puce meander and the interior and foot ring are of robin?s egg blue.
