QIANLONG POLYCHROME AMITAYUS BUDDHA IN FULL MEDITATION WITH FITTED STAND. A two piece Amitayus Buddha in full meditation on a carved stand. This polychrome Buddha was for the Royal Court. There is an intensive use of the lotus symbol on the topknot, pants and shawl. The robe bottom shows lotus and Lingzhi. Bands of twining vines decorate the shawl and pants. The Buddha wears a swastika symbol on his chest as well as overglazed coral bead and lapis necklaces. His golden body is clothed in a scalloped edge shawl and a yellow lower skirt. Under the garments, his body is covered with a pattern of lotus and vine intermingled with the Eight Buddhist symbols. The bottom of the statue is bordered by a puce meander on yellow ground. The interior and foot are a robin?s egg blue. The stand is banded top and bottom with lotus and vines. Two bands of petals are divided by a narrow gold band above the top, at the waist. And at the very bottom below the lotus and vine border. Six character reign mark is visible, Qianlong Reign, Qing Dynasty.
