QING HEAVILY CARVED ZITAN BOX WITH MUTTONFAT JADE DRAGON INLAY & MATCHING STAND A heavily carved Zitan box with a mutton fat jade inset. The lobed box consists of four carved cartouches per side featuring Lingzhi, three small bats and peaches. The cover displays bats, Lingzhi and a mutton fat jade square-shaped inlay carved with a dragon motif. Both cover and bottom feature a large heavy rolled simply carved extended edge. The stand is a pierced quatrefoil gallery to match the box cover. It has chamfered edges, a band of stylized lotus petals and a carved skirt of bats, Lingzhi. The heavy leg at each corner transforms into a ruyi and the bottom band at the termination of the feet mimics the chamfered edges above. Qing Dynasty
