Antique Chinese high valued Zitan lantern post. Constructed in a square vase shaped body, with four post supporting the flared top with symmetrical splayed base. Pierced and open-work carved with many auspicious motifs, each the monastery hat shaped cover, suspending four chain linked to the top. Hung further from a dragon head carved post, leading to cylindrical straight post, set upon a prominent pedestal, with four shaped panels flanked over the post securing the balance. The Zitan wood display smooth lustrous dense hardwood with dark purple-brown patina and feathery fine grain.
