Pair of 19/20th C Buddha houses, constructed from highly valued Chinese Zitan wood, carved unto a flattened double gourd shaped Buddha temple house, with nine opening to the front in smaller double gourd pattern, The exterior deftly carved in relief with uptala, the mystique night lotus bloom, with its scrolling tendrils. Each opening covered in royal-yellow silk. Adorned with two carved hanging Fu bats plaques flanked on the waist. Displayed upon a gallery fenced rectangular pedestal. The Zitan wood display smooth lustrous dense hardwood with dark purple-brown patina and feathery fine grain.
