The wide and deep shape of the present bowl, with straight sides, is very rare in Longquan celadon. A similarly shaped bowl dated to the Yongle period (1402-1424), but decorated on the exterior with scrolling flowers and on the interior with flower and fruit sprays surrounding a central lotus medallion, was sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, 26 Nov 2014, lot 2928.
