A related Hongshan jade ‘toothed’ pendant (17.2 cm. long), gifted by Therese and Erwin Harris in 1991 to the Freer Gallery, is illustrated by Jenny F. So in “A Hongshan Jade Pendant in the Freer Galley of Art,” Chinese Jade: Selected articles from Orientations 1983-1996, Hong Kong, 1997, p. 124, figs. 1a and 1 b. Also illustrated, p. 126, fig. 4, is a jade ‘toothed’ pendant in the Tianjin Art Musuem that is even more similar to the current example. A Hongshan jade ‘toothed’ pendant carved from similar yellowish-green jade as that of the current pendant and also of similar length, but of wider proportions, is illustrated in the catalogue for the J. J. Lally exhibition, Archaic Chinese Bronzes, Jades and Works of Art, 1-25 June 1994, no. 7. See, also, the two Hongshan jade ‘toothed’ pendants from the Yangdetang Collection sold at Christie’s Hong Kong, the first on 29 November 2017, lot 2704, and the second on 28 November 2018, lot 2708.
