Hand potted and painted Chinese porcelain bowl with broad rim and a dark cobalt archaistic stylized decoration. The bowl may have been used as a joss stick holder or censer because the interior is unglazed.The heavy round porcelain bowl is decorated with alternating cobalt blue bands. The main band in the middle looks like a stylized archaic pattern. The cobalt used is a nice dark smoky blue. The white glaze has a blue cast with a nice worn smooth feel and looks shiny.The bowl has a broad, flat lip. The interior of the bowl is unglazed, as is the base and the deep foot. You can see the pottera€?s wheel marks under the glaze at the mouth and underneath on the base. The clay is a dirty white.There are no porcelain marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS 7 1/8a€ (18.1 cm) diameter x 3 1/8a€ (7.9 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 3.5 oz (555 g)CONDITION There are kiln flaws such as black spots, glaze misses, pimples, cobalt explosions, and bumps. There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. The bowl rings true. There is a reddish brown stain at the base of the interior, most likely a residue from incense.A nice antique handmade bowl with a nice blue and white design that will add to your blue and white d??cor.
