White translucent glass beads made in China for trade with the west. The beads are handmade, showing irregularities and flaws. They look a lot like pale jade. There are two sets of two beads that are joined, with 131 beads total. The beads are not uniform. They have flaws like bubbles, dark inclusions and are not perfectly shaped. They actually look like white jade, which is probably what they were patterned after. Some beads are clearer than others. They are strung on an old cord. Beads such as these were also traded to the Native Americans who held them in very high regard. You see many native necklaces that use Peking glass beads.MEASUREMENTS 18 ??a€ (47 cm) long. The diameter of each bead varies between approximately 9 mm and 10 mm). Weight 3.5 oz (95 g)CONDITION The beads are rather irregular. A couple of the beads, in particular are a bit narrower than the rest. The beads are in good condition and look great. Please consult photos.I love Peking glass because of its substantial look. It resembles stone - especially jade - more than glass.Item ID: J-876Gender: Female, Age Group: Adult, Color: white, Size: 18 1/2" long
