Worn spots show lighter colored wood. The opening and closing of the jaws shows great ingenuity and detailed precise carving. The carving of the face is exacting and artistic having good depth and showing good expression. The man has a hat with tassel and a wide collar. Weighs 5.6 oz (160 g)CONDITION There is a repair to a tip of the tail. There is a small chip on the beard and a tiny one around the mouth. There are two small nicks on the front hat edge. There are tiny wear marks here and there, particularly around the mouth where it was, of course, used to crack nuts.
