This vintage party dress is a very pretty dress and it is the lace that makes it stand out. This is a 1950s era dress made of horizontal rows of black Chantilly lace over a wine-red taffeta rayon fabric base. The dress is made in a a€?bombshella€ style - sleeveless, form fitting, with a high neckline. The lace is delightful. There is a velvet bow in front in rich wine and a nylon zipper in back. The dress has a tag with the Sears trademark, and the words a€?Fashiona€, Dry Clean onlya€, and a€?Sears, Roebuck and Co. U.S.A.a€ Provenance: This dress belonged to my mother when she was in college approximately 1954. Ia€?ve seen a black and white photo of her in the dress and she was stunning. Ia€?ve looked for this photo recently but cana€?t find it.SIZING AND MEASUREMENTS Sizing: No size is indicated, and although my mother (who owned the dress says ita€?s a SIZE 10- she weighed 117-120 when she wore the dress in college). Please note the following measurements for fit, taking into account the style of the dress: Length: 23 ??a€ from waist seam to hem. 40 ??a€ from top of shoulder to bottom hem measured flat Waist: 28a€ around the seam Bust: 35-36a€ around, taken at the underarms Hips: 36a€ Weighs 11.3 oz (325 g)CONDITION Overall the lace and taffeta are in good condition. The dress has been put away for many years and so it is wrinkled. There are a couple of loose threads, particularly around the zipper, but the seams seem quite secure. None of that shows and it does not attract for the loveliness of the dress. ___________________To receive special offers please sign up directly from our personal website which you can find under "favorite links" on our Ruby Lane shop's home page.
