A medium-sized Ming jar with an under glaze cobalt blue design of floral scrolling. A heavy, round porcelain body with a raised neck to an open mouth that has been covered with a thick bluish cast glaze. The glaze is thick, smooth and looks shiny. The cobalt under glaze is a smoky color with a darker cobalt used to outline the designs. There are paintings of floral scrolls and clouds around the shoulder. There are thin lines encircling the mouth, shoulder and above the base. There is a slight foot with an unglazed grit covered foot ring. The base is glazed. There are no porcelain marks or labels.MEASUREMENTS 3 ??a€ (8.3 cm) diameter x 3 ??a€ (8.9 cm) tall. Weighs 7.1 oz (200 g)CONDITION There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. There are kiln flaws such as dimples, reserves, black spots, glaze drips, bumps and grit. There is a line around part of the mid center. I wonder if it was joined there in manufacture. An ancient jar to add to your collection. It feels good to hold and contemplate the past.___________________Item ID: Por-1492
