The bowla€?s cavetto is decorated with panels of a blue, red and gold floral design alternating with panels of a simple garden scene showing a tree and a flower. These panels are surrounded by rich brocade fabric designs and cherry branches. The central medallion has an arrangement of red leaves and wisteria blossoms, surrounded by a floral blue border. The rim edge is gilded. The outside body of the bowls is decorate in a cobalt blue scrolling fruit and foliage design.The body glaze is a thick, soft, white glaze that looks shiny and feels very smooth to the touch. Under glaze cobalt blue was used to form the base pattern. After the first firing, iron red, green, and gold over glaze enamels were painted and then fired on. The bowls have a glazed raised foot ring. The base is unglazed with a glazed central well. You can see radiating chatter marks on the unglazed part of the base.MEASUREMENTSEach bowl measures 5 7/8a€ (14.9 cm) diameter x 1 7/8a€ (4.8 cm) tall. There is wear to the gold on the rims. The colors are bright and shiny.
