Fun, classic childa€?s teapot by Allerton & Sons from Staffordshire England that has survived in great shape to today. The Punch and Judy motif with the frog smoking a pipe is so much fun!The molded ceramic teapot has a melon shape with a scalloped mouth edge. The pot is decorated on the front and back with matching deep pink transfers of Punch and Judy with baby surrounded by a border of arabesques and flowers. An odd frog smoking a pipe fills in the space below this. The mouth has a shallow flange to support a matching ceramic domed lid with a triangular finial handle. The lid also has a hole for steam to escape. The handle was applied and has a nice arching shape with a flourish at the top. The pot has a mold line traversing under the handle and continuing to the spout, and a shallow unglazed foot. The base is glazed. There is the word PUNCH in pink transfer on the base as well as a transfer in black of the letter S.MEASUREMENTS 7a€ (17.8 cm) long x 3 ??a€ (9.5 cm) wide x 5 ??a€ (13.3 cm) tall. Weighs 10. 6 oz (305 g)CONDITION The condition is very good. The transfers are very perfect with no smudging or misalignment, and they are very bright and deeply colored. There is some crazing of the glaze around the mouth, base, and lid. There is a chip on the inner flange of the lid. It doesna€?t show when the lid is on. The handle feels slightly rough and has a discoloration spot on the inside of the handle edge. The teapot looks bright and fresh. The most important part is that the spout has no chips, but it does have a tiny possibly kiln flaw or wear spot. There are no cracks, or breaks.A great teapot to add to your set or as a whimsy to decorate your neo-Victorian d??cor. It looks great with shabby chic.Item ID: Pot-1815
