Elaborate , delicate, intricate, shiny hand painting on this thinly potted plate. A regular tour de force. So much precision and talent was needed to make this plate!A round thin porcelain hand thrown plate. Held up to the light, you see the translucency. The plate has a central well from the rim. The plate is not heavy and shows the pottersa€? wheel rings under the base glaze. The plate has a slight raised, cut, unglazed foot ring. The plate has a fairly white base glaze with an ever so slight blue cast. It has been painted in over glaze enamels in orange, pink, green, blue, and yellow, with black used for outlining and accents. Gold has been used on the plate edge rim and again for accents and a central ring. The glazes feel shiny and smooth except for the red glaze which feels dry. The painted decoration is extensive and professionally done. The line quality is minute and pervasive. There are four panels which are of Mandarin garden scenes and floral bird scenes. These alternate around the plate. The amount of hand-work is incredible._______________________________________________ PLEASE NOTE: This is one of four nearly identical plates were are listing.
