The glazes are smooth, shiny and feel good. The plate and white glaze are translucent. The foot ring is cut and not glazed. The foot is raised above the base, which is glazed. The cavetto is painted with butterflies in so many positions, as is the central well. The painting is so fine even the antennae are finely painted.There is a mark of CHINA in a diamond shaped lozenge in red glaze.MEASUREMENTS 7 ??a€ (18.4 cm) diameter x ??a€ (1.9 cm) tall. Weighs 6.3 oz (180 g)CONDITION The plate has no chips, cracks or breaks. The plate rings true. The glazes look fresh and not worn. There is a tiny amount of wear on the plate rim. There is a glaze stain under the plate rim on one side.The butterfly plates are a real tour de force. So much handwork and so much time involved. A real puzzle to paint.
