Very good impression and color, minor trimming and age-related wear consistent with period
Oban tate-e woodblock print
描述：An original Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III, depicting the kabuki actor Seki Sanjuro III?in the role of Nippon Daemon. The print was issued in 1862 and belongs to Kunisada’s late career, when he was highly active in producing yakusha-e (actor portraits).Kunisada’s kabuki prints captured not only the likeness of the actors but also the theatrical intensity of the roles they portrayed. Nippon Daemon, a flamboyant and villainous character, is shown here in dramatic costume and pose, reflecting the heightened style of mid-19th century Edo theater.
