Description: Cloisonné enamel. China, Qing dynasty
A fine pair of cloisonne candlesticks in the form of winged dragon fish. They hold the pricket candlestick in their mouths and their serpentine bodies are finely enameled in green with gilt scales. The raised circular base is enameled in light blue with waves, as is the ball they are seated on where the spiny tail passes through. Details such as wings, face, dorsal spines and claws are all gilt.
