WANLI 1573-1620 Finely painted with a cricket on a rock and with flower sprays, the moulded bracket-lobed rim with eight panels of various blossoms and cicadas, the reverse with eight panels of fruit and cicadas, the base with an egret mark and a circular label for Bluett & Sons, London, 19.7cm. Provenance: formerly the property of a titled English collector. Cf. Christie's New York, 16th March 2015, lot 3502, and Christie's Amsterdam, 20th May 2008, lot 9 for other egret-marked Kraak dishes. The egret mark appears exclusively on Wanli Kraak pieces of high quality, fine painting and moulded designs, was used at one particular kiln.
