Signed (lower left) Jackson Pollock (1912–1956) was one of the leading figures of American modern art and a central figure in the Abstract Expressionist movement. Renowned for his revolutionary drip painting technique Pollock broke traditional rules of painting by laying his canvas flat on the ground and dripping paint directly onto it creating complex compositions filled with dynamic rhythm.
