H :18.5cm W :11cm This sculpture is a seated figure of Four-Armed Avalokite?vara in the Tibetan Buddhist style from the Ming Dynasty, entirely cast from fine bronze with a thick, rich patina and a deep, elegant hue. The Avalokite?vara has a serene and compassionate facial expression, wears a precious crown, and is adorned with ornate and celestial robes. The four-armed form follows strict ritual conventions : the primary hands are pressed together in Anjali Mudra at the chest, symbolising compassion, joy, and equanimity, while the secondary hands hold ritual implements.
