Image Size : 26 3/8 by 37 1/4 inches (67 by 95cm) All measurements are approximate. Signed (reverse) Piero Dorazio was one of the leading figures in the Italian post-war abstract movement and a founding member of the influential "Forma 1" group. Trained in architecture in Rome Dorazio soon turned toward painting embracing lyrical abstraction and geometric rigor. His mature style is characterized by the interplay of color light and line expressed through chromatic harmonies and optical rhythms that reflect his interest in both Bauhaus ideals and Futurist dynamism. By the 1960s he had developed a distinctive language using luminous bands and layered grids to construct pictorial spaces of pure energy and motion.
