H :30cm W :15.5cm This pair of Qing Dynasty Silver-Plated Bronze Jars with Eight Auspicious Symbols and Lion Handles is a fine Qing copper utensil in Tibetan Buddhist style, and its preservation in a pair is particularly rare. It takes the form of a straight cylindrical lidded jar, made of pure copper with full silver-plated decoration : the lid knob is lotus-bud-shaped, the lid and jar body are decorated with high-relief Eight Auspicious Symbols (dharma wheel, conch, etc.) accompanied by interlocking flowers, and lion-head ring handles are set on both sides. The dense and magnificent patterns and exquisite carving fully demonstrate the characteristics of Qing Sino-Tibetan integration utensils—"exquisite craftsmanship and profound symbolism". Intact in form with a warm patina, it is a representative of Qing Tibetan Buddhist ritual and decorative utensils. It embodies the craftsmanship standard and aesthetic of religious utensils under Qing Sino-Tibetan cultural exchanges, and is an important object for studying Qing metal craftsmanship and Tibetan Buddhist utensils, with extremely high historical, artistic and collection value.
