H :38cm W :42cm This Tang Dynasty Painted and Gilt Stone Apsara Fragment is exquisitely crafted. As a decorative component of Tang Dynasty Buddhist grottoes, it is made of stone with relief carving. The apsara has a plump and soft face, a high bun with gilt ornaments, dynamic ribbon lines, and a gilt-decorated ritual implement (box-shaped object) in hand. Original vermilion painting (partially preserved) fully demonstrates the "light and elegant" artistic style and exquisite carving-painting standards of apsaras in the High Tang period. Despite being a fragment, it remains a fine Tang Dynasty Buddhist stone carving.
