This energetic abstract painting is a striking example of the work of the influential American artist Cy Twombly known for his unique integration of drawing and painting.

Characteristic of his mature style the canvas is dominated by dense looping gestures executed in vibrant red paint evoking a sense of frantic primal writing or calligraphy with visible drips that emphasize the spontaneity of the artist's hand.
