拍品描述 翻译
A CELADON-GLAZED BARBED STONEWARE DISH, SAWANKHALOKThailand, Sukhothai province, Si Satchalanai, 14th-15th century. The shallow, rounded sides of the vessel supported on a slightly tapered foot with a recessed base, rising to a subtly everted, lobed rim. The interior decorated with a central medallion enclosing a stylized blossoming flowerhead, framed by a double-line border. The cavetto adorned with a dense scale-like pattern, while the exterior left undecorated, all beneath a translucent celadon glaze, stopping just above the foot to reveal the buff-colored ceramic ware beneath.Provenance: From The Sam and Myrna Myers Collection, Paris, France. Acquired between circa 1965-2012.Condition: Very good condition with surface wear and firing-inherent irregularities, including light pitting, sparse dark spots, and few burst bubbles. Weight: 528.2 gDimensions: Height 3.6 cm, Diameter 19.9 cmCeramic production in Thailand had attained a high degree of technical refinement and organizational complexity by the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Prominent kiln centers, most notably the large-scale complex at Si Satchanalai in northern Thailand, developed into active competitors of Chinese kilns within established maritime trade networks, particularly those serving Southeast Asia and the Indonesian archipelago.Thai kilns were especially renowned for their green-glazed celadon wares, which demonstrate close formal and technological affinities with celadons produced at the Longquan kilns in China during the Ming period. The emulation of Longquan models is evident in vessel typologies, glaze tonality, and surface finish, reflecting the widespread prestige of Longquan celadon across Asian markets. Nevertheless, Thai celadons also reveal distinctive local adaptations in terms of ceramic body, firing conditions, and subtle decorative restraint, attesting to a sophisticated process of reinterpretation rather than mere imitation.Literature comparison:Compare a related celadon-glazed stoneware dish, Thailand, Sukhothai province, Sa Satchanalai, 15th-16th century, 26.4 cm diameter, in the Fukuoka Art Museum. Compare a related Sawankhalok celadon-glazed stoneware bowl, Thailand, 14th century, 31.1 cm diameter, in the Minneapolis Institute of Art, accession number 87.76. Compare a related Sawankhalok celadon-glazed stoneware bowl, Thailand, possibly Sukhothai province, 14th-15th century, 21.1 cm diameter, in the Art Institute of Chicago, reference number 2002.30.Auction result comparison: Type: Closely related Auction: Christie's New York, 18 September 2003, lot 266 Price: USD 3,107 or approx.
