During his 70-year collection career,he learned from the painter himself and museum professionals,and has a very high ability to appreciate and collect oil paintings,Over the years he built up an impressive collection of the modern visual arts. On his 95'th birthday he decided to dispose of his Asian art collection which will be sold by Singapore International Auction in a number of sales this year. Soedarsono played a role in anti-Dutch propaganda efforts after World War II. imprisonment by the Dutch in 1948. However, he later became an art lecturer, held government positions, and even had his artworks included in the collection of President Sukarno.Tragically he became a victim of the purges following the failed 1966 communist coup. This unfortunate event elevated the value of his artworks among collectors, not only because of their artistic merit but also due to their historical significance and the tragic fate of the artist himself.
