Giovanni Paolo Panini (Italian, 1691-1765) was known for his paintings of the ancient ruins in Rome. This particular painting was one of four painted by Panini for the ?‰tienne Fran?§ois, duc de Choiseul, the Chief Minister of the French King Louis XV from 1758 to 1770. This painting was included in the 1834 catalogue by W. W. Clapp, and comes with a Certificate of Appraisal from Arthur & Associates in Boston dated 1997 with an International Society of Appraisers seal. The repairs, repaint. Frame, Good.
