拍品描述 翻译
DYNASTYChina, circa 3rd-2nd century BC. The plain globular body is raised on three cabriole legs, flanked by a pair of upright angular loop handles decorated to the exterior side with three raised, radiating lines, and surmounted by a domed cover that is covered in a thin crackled green glaze.Provenance: The collection of A. Hansen, Denmark. Mr. Hansen (b. 1955) is a retired Danish Supreme Court lawyer and lifelong collector with a deep passion for history and culture. His collecting journey began at the age of eight with stamps, encouraged by his father, and quickly developed into a serious pursuit. By 1982, his specialized collection of Greenland postal history earned international recognition. Following this success, Mr. Hansen turned his focus to fine art and antiquities, beginning with Danish art and later expanding into East and Southeast Asian artifacts after an inspiring Japanese exhibition in 1985. Over the following decades, his collection grew to include mostly ceramic artworks from Annam, Khmer, Burmese, and Thai origins, acquired through reputable collectors and auction houses.Condition: Good condition with expected wear and firing irregularities including pottery lines, traces of prolonged burial including soil encrustations, few old chips, old repairs as expected from authentic Zhou-Han dynasty excavations.Weight: 1,652 gDimensions: Width 22.8 cm (across handles)The term proto-porcelain describes a range of well recognized wares, usually dressed in a green ash glaze, firstly produced during the Shang dynasty in Zhejiang province. These ceramics were fired at much higher temperatures compared to traditional low-fired pottery and were thus less porous and more hygienic. During the Han dynasty, they became more widespread and the ash-glazing technique was refined. Most comparable examples of proto-porcelain jars have been excavated from aristocratic tombs of the Han dynasty, indicating their high value in Han society. The robustness of these particular jars, however, strongly suggests that they were also used in everyday life, rather than for strictly funerary purposes. The proto-porcelain ware was succeeded in the Tang and Song dynasties by the Yue and celadon wares which emerged from kilns in the same areas.Literature comparison:Compare a closely related ash-glazed ding and cove, dated 2nd century BC, in the Tokyo National Museum, collection reference number TJ-4669. Compare a closely related ding and cover, dated to the 2nd century BC, 18.4 cm long, in the National Museum of Asian Art, Smithsonian Institution, accession number F1909.331a-b.Auction result comparison: Type: Closely relatedAuction: Christie's New York, 27 March 2018, lot 13Price: USD 4,750 or approx.
