拍品描述 翻译
China, 206 BC-220 AD. The cylindrical body raised on three cabriole feet, set with a pair of taotie mask handles suspending mock-rings, and decorated with bands around the center and upper rim. The cover crisply carved and molded with a central blossom framed by Chinese characters, within raised borders and a band of sharp teeth, enclosed by a border of swirls and further teeth. The body and lid covered in a deep olive-green glaze.Inscriptions: The cover with characters, 'Yi Zi Sun, Ciqi, […] (for the benefit of the descendants, ceramic […])'.Provenance: The collection of A. Hansen, Denmark. Mr. Hansen (b. 1955) is a retired Danish Supreme Court lawyer and lifelong collector with a deep passion for history and culture. His collecting journey began at the age of eight with stamps, encouraged by his father, and quickly developed into a serious pursuit. By 1982, his specialized collection of Greenland postal history earned international recognition. Following this success, Mr. Hansen turned his focus to fine art and antiquities, beginning with Danish art and later expanding into East and Southeast Asian artifacts after an inspiring Japanese exhibition in 1985. Over the following decades, his collection grew to include mostly ceramic artworks from Annam, Khmer, Burmese, and Thai origins, acquired through reputable collectors and auction houses.Condition: Very good condition with expected wear, firing irregularities including spur marks, few tiny chips to rims and feet, little flaking to the glaze.Weight: 2 kgDimensions: Height 18.6 cmRegina Krahl in her book Chinese Ceramics from the Meiyintang Collection, Volume I, Azimuth Editions, London 1994, p. 49, observes that during the Han dynasty tombs were often looted, which resulted in expensive materials such as bronze gradually being substituted by cheaper materials such as pottery and that the poisonous lead content in the glaze would have made pieces such as this unsuitable for storage of food and drink. It is therefore more likely that the present jar was intended for use as censer.Literature comparison:Compare a closely related green glazed jar and cover, dated Han dynasty, in the Kyushu National Museum, Fukuoka, Japan, reference number J608. Compare a closely related green glazed jar and cover, dated Eastern Han dynasty, 19.7 cm tall, previously at Ben Janssens Oriental Art.Auction result comparison: Type: Closely relatedAuction: Christie's New York, 27 March 2026, lot 672Price: USD 6,985 or approx. EUR 6,000 converted at the time of writing: A large green-glazed red pottery cylindrical tripod vessel and cover, lian, Han dynasty (206 BC-AD 220) Expert remark: Compare the closely related form, decoration, motifs, and glaze. Note the size (23 cm).
