拍品描述 翻译
? A RARE FIVE-COLOR OVERLAY WHITE-GROUND GLASS VASE, QIANLONG MARK AND PERIODExpert's note: This superb glass vase, so finely decorated with a multi-color overlaid design of auspicious flowers and inscribed with a Qianlong four-character mark, is extremely rare. A small number of Qianlong reign-marked overlaid glass vases is recorded in museum collections, but none of the exact same style. The vibrant colors, exceptionally accomplished carving, and substantial weight of the glass all strongly support an attribution to the Qianlong period.China, 1736-1795. Superbly carved through the green, blue, yellow, pink, and red layers to the opaque white ground with lotus and chrysanthemum sprouting from rockwork encircling the foot, a butterfly fluttering amid the leafy stems, framed by plain green bands around the foot and rim. The opaque white recessed base incised with a four-character mark Qianlong nianzhi and of the period.Provenance: From the private collection of Alvin Lo, Hong Kong. Alvin Lo is a fourth-generation art collector and dealer specializing in Asian art, with particular expertise in Chinese jades and works of art. He is the fourth son of P. C. Lu, one of the most influential Hong Kong art dealers of the twentieth century. In the 1990s, he founded Alvin Lo Oriental Art in Midtown Manhattan before returning to Hong Kong in the mid-2000s, where he continues his work. Over the past decades, he has published numerous scholarly catalogs and organized exhibitions internationally.Condition: Good condition with minor wear, few microscopic nibbles around the upper rim and foot, few minuscule chips to overlay, a single stabilized crack across the base.Weight: 1,128 gDimensions: Height 19.6 cmLiterature comparison: Compare a closely related multi-color overlay glass vase, 21.9 cm high, dated late 18th-19th century, in the Chrysler Museum, Norfolk, accession number 76.1, illustrated by James C.
