Maker: Ilias Lalaounis, Athens Greece Style: Byzantine Revival Material: 18 Karat Solid Yellow Gold, Cabochon Natural Sapphires, Rubies, Single Cut Diamonds Specifications: Overall size 48mm × 48mm, gross weight 29.3 grams Total gem weights: Cabochon sapphires 16 ct total, rubies 14 ct total, accent diamonds 3.7 ct total Description: Iconic symmetrical eight-point star floral brooch from master Greek jeweller Ilias Lalaounis, crafted in revered Byzantine revival aesthetic. The construction utilises the maker’s signature thick twisted rope wire goldwork to frame nine large smooth cabochon sapphires at the core and radiating points. Each star ray is accented with clusters of vivid cabochon rubies and small single-cut diamonds, creating rich red, royal blue and warm gold tonal contrast characteristic of Eastern Roman sacred jewellery. Fully signed to the reverse with the Lalaounis maker’s mark, fitted with a sturdy original pin clasp, substantial gemstone carat weight and intact original gold twist mounting throughout.
