H:17cmW:12.5cmWeight:1032g A finely cast partially gilt bronze figure of Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life, dating to the Mid-Qing dynasty, seated upon a double lotus pedestal.
The deity sits in full padmasana, the hands held in the dhyana mudra at the abdomen, the primary iconographic attribute of Amitayus. He wears an ornate five-leaf jewelled crown topped by a single ushnisha finial, paired with large rosette-shaped earrings. Multiple strands of pearl necklaces drape across the chest, paired with detailed armbands and wristlets; flowing scarves curl elegantly around the shoulders and arms.
The sculpture employs the distinctive Tibetan partial gilding technique: the lotus base, crown, jewellery, robes and limbs are fully gilded with warm aged gold, while the facial and torso flesh areas retain the dark original bronze patina, creating a striking two-tone contrast highlighting the sculptural layers. His face bears a serene meditative expression, eyes gently downcast with soft rounded features.
The double lotus pedestal features plump upturned petals outlined with fine beaded borders, sharply defined through precise chiselling. The bronze cast is dense and weighty, with intact original gilding and rich accumulated antique patina throughout. Executed in the refined Sino-Tibetan Himalayan sculptural idiom, this is a well-preserved devotional bronze of Amitayus.
