拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: Height 11.6 cm (approximately 4.6 in, approximately 0.38 ft); Ming Dynasty 15th–16th century Fahua glazed ceramic sculpture,Condition and Provenance: The sculpture remains intact with no major breaks or losses. The surface displays natural age-related crazing throughout the glaze, with a rich and deep peacock-blue tone complemented by contrasting yellow glazed details. The edges of the base show natural wear, areas of glaze loss, and traces of aged earth deposits consistent with long-term preservation. Overall condition is well preserved. Provenance: Private Collection, Wyoming, USA,Description: This is an ancient Fahua glazed ceramic auspicious beast sculpture, created with low-temperature lead glaze techniques and traditionally used as a decorative and protective ceremonial object. The beast is shown seated on an integrated square base, with a solid and powerful body shape. The sculptor emphasized the rounded muscles, strong limbs, and dignified posture, creating a sense of strength and stability. The head turns slightly to one side with a solemn expression; the facial details are carefully modeled, including dotted impressions around the mouth, broad hanging ears, and yellow glazed inner ear details that contrast beautifully with the deep blue body glaze. The entire figure is covered with a rich peacock-blue Fahua glaze, featuring fine natural crazing and subtle variations in tone that create depth and texture. The ears and muzzle are highlighted with ivory-yellow glaze, while the eyes are accented with dark painted details, producing a refined yet archaic appearance. The sculpture was formed from a molded ceramic body with exposed unglazed clay visible on the sides of the base. The clay body has an earthy yellow tone and retains traces of aged soil deposits. The localized glaze wear on the base reflects natural aging from long-term preservation or archaeological conditions. Material and Technique: Ceramic body with Fahua low-temperature lead glazing; molded construction combined with hand finishing. The piece combines sculptural modeling, colorful glazing, and traditional decorative techniques, representing the distinctive aesthetic of northern Chinese Fahua ceramics. Form and Meaning: The seated auspicious beast was traditionally associated with protection, warding off evil, and bringing blessings and prosperity. This type of lion-like mythical beast sculpture represents an important category of northern Chinese Fahua ceramic art.
