拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: 12 cm high and approximately 6.8 cm in diameter (about 4.7 inches high and 2.7 inches in diameter; about 0.39 feet high and 0.22 feet in diameter) 15th centuryCondition and Provenance: The jar is preserved in good overall condition, with the original cover and vessel remaining together. The glaze has a smooth and refined surface, while the blue-and-white and polychrome decoration retains its natural brightness and character. Minor age-related traces and authentic firing characteristics are visible. The single “Tian” mark on the base remains clearly preserved. Provenance: Private Collection, Texas, USADescription: This piece represents the classic “Tian” character jar form, featuring a short neck, broad shoulders, rounded body, and a gently tapered lower section supported by a raised foot. The vessel is fitted with its original matching cover, creating a full and elegant silhouette. A single blue-and-white “Tian” character is written on the base, with an archaic and distinctive style that identifies this rare group of imperial vessels. The entire surface is decorated on a white glazed ground using a combination of underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome enamels. The cover is painted with an iron-red auspicious beast surrounded by blue-and-white waves and clouds, while the cover rim is decorated with blue wave patterns. Two bands of yellow banana-leaf motifs decorate the shoulder and lower section, creating a balanced decorative rhythm. The main body features multiple auspicious creatures, including a galloping celestial horse moving among blue clouds, with green waves and mountain-cliff motifs below. The beasts are lively and expressive, the cloud patterns flow elegantly, and the layered sea imagery creates a dynamic composition. The cobalt blue is rich and stable, while the red, yellow, and green enamels remain vibrant and harmonious. The composition is carefully balanced, with refined brushwork reflecting the decorative style of Ming imperial kilns. “Tian” character jars are among the rare imperial storage vessels associated with tea culture during the Ming dynasty. With its complete decoration, elegant proportions, auspicious imagery, and rare marked form, this jar represents an exceptional example of Ming dynasty porcelain craftsmanship.
