拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: Each dragon measures 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) in length; the pair weighs a total of 747 grams. Warring States Period (5th-3rd century BC). Condition and Provenance: This pair of bronze walking dragons is in excellent condition. All parts are original, including the dragon heads, flame-shaped horns, coiled limbs, and spiral tails, without cracks, welds, or signs of modern repairs. All openwork and cloud patterns are clear and intact, without rust or perforations. The entire surface exhibits multiple layers of natural mineral patina, with red, green, and blue colors interwoven within the bronze base, without any artificial chemical rust-preventing treatment. The original casting mounting groove at the base is well-preserved and bears the crust of naturally buried soil. This pair of Warring States period bronze dragons originally circulated through an antique dealer in Hong Kong and is now owned by a private collector of ancient bronzes in California. California is a major global trading center for ancient Chinese bronzes. Description: This pair of openwork cloud-patterned bronze walking dragon ornaments, cast using the lost-wax method, are exquisite decorative bronze fittings used on noble chariots or ceremonial vessels during the Warring States period (Chu or Central Plains culture period). Each dragon is sculpted in a dynamic, running posture, with a long and flowing body. The dragon's head extends forward, its mouth slightly open, its eyes round and striking, and its elegant hollow, flame-shaped horns extend upwards. The dragon's body is covered with continuous openwork circular holes, decorated with swirling cloud patterns. The solid bronze contrasts sharply with the hollow negative space, creating a light and agile aesthetic. Curled, round feet support the body, and the dragon's tail spirals upwards, outlining a smooth and vibrant silhouette. The mounting grooves cast on the base allow it to be securely fixed to the crossbeam of a chariot or ceremonial vessel. This piece is a prime example of openwork bronze craftsmanship from the Warring States period, a technique often used for small decorative bronze objects. Today, perfectly preserved, untouched, naturally patinated, complete pairs of dragon-shaped artifacts are extremely rare on the antique market. These dragon-shaped artifacts embody the dragon totem culture of the pre-Qin period, while perfectly preserving the exquisite lost-wax openwork casting technique of the time. They possess outstanding archaeological research value, museum-level artistic appeal, and extremely high collectible value. This is a rare and precious pair for any early collection of Chinese bronze art, and a core exhibit in the museum’s gallery of ancient bronzes.
