拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: 44 cm (17.32 inches) in height. A 15th-century Yongle court blue-and-white celestial globe vase, decorated with concealed white dragon wave patterns. Condition and Provenance: This vase boasts a grand and imposing form, with well-proportioned dimensions and a thick, dense body covered in a lustrous white glaze. Imported cobalt blue pigment produces a rich, deep blue hue, interspersed with natural rust spots—a hallmark of Yongle and Xuande court porcelain. The straight neck is decorated with scrolling foliage; the body is painted with layers of overlapping waves, with concealed, flowing, and powerful dragon motifs in the white spaces, seemingly weaving through the waves. The base is unglazed sandy, clean and dense in texture, with a naturally aged rust hue, showing no signs of artificial dyeing or imitation. This piece is well-preserved, without cracks, glaze peeling, defects, or signs of repair. Only slight signs of natural wear are present on the rim and the spherical body, the result of centuries of collecting. All glazes exhibit a uniform and soft patina of age. This imperial celestial vase was originally consigned for auction by a historic antique porcelain gallery in Hong Kong and was acquired in 2026 by a private collector in California specializing in Ming and Qing imperial porcelain. California, New York, and Hong Kong are major trading centers for top-tier Ming and Qing imperial porcelain globally. Description: This Yongle blue-and-white celestial vase, shaped with a dragon motif, is a top-tier treasure from the early Ming imperial kilns. The celestial vase form first appeared during the Yongle period, exclusively for court display and as gifts. Large, intact pieces are extremely rare worldwide, and this one, adorned with a white dragon hidden amidst surging waves, is one of the most cherished classic royal motifs of the Yongle and Xuande periods. The vase follows classic Yongle design: a tall, straight cylindrical neck, a large spherical body, and a flat, unglazed, sandy base. The upper part of the neck is decorated with intertwined scroll patterns, while the broad body of the vase is completely covered with layers of surging, towering waves. Craftsmen used a rich cobalt blue to depict the crests of the waves and outlined the dragon's form with pure white porcelain clay. Beneath the white background, fine underglaze lines were used to depict the details of the dragon's scales and claws. The deep blue waves contrast sharply with the light-colored, concealed dragon, creating a breathtaking and magnificent visual effect. Middle Eastern cobalt ore, rich in iron and manganese, forms natural metallic rust spots in the recessed waves—a unique natural texture that modern imitations cannot realistically reproduce. This vase employs a multi-layered cobalt blue shading technique to skillfully showcase the depth and spatial sense of the ocean scene. The sharp, powerful brushstrokes depict the rolling waves and foam, embodying the grand and majestic artistic beauty of early Ming court painting. The dragon is an exclusive symbol of imperial power, while the boundless ocean symbolizes the undivided imperial territory. Together, they form an auspicious pattern, signifying the stability and longevity of the dynasty. This vase possesses extremely high academic research value, encompassing areas such as court porcelain manufacturing techniques, Ming Dynasty court etiquette culture, and the history of ancient Sino-foreign ceramic trade. It boasts a complete, thick body, a pure Yongle cobalt blue hue, well-preserved exquisite decorations, genuine court glaze, and a unique sandy base, making it a museum-quality blue-and-white porcelain collectible. Highly sought after by collectors of court porcelain worldwide, it possesses extremely high long-term value retention and appreciation potential.
