拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: Each coin measures 2.38 cm (0.94 inches) in diameter and weighs 66 grams. This is a complete set of official Qing Dynasty 20-cent silver coins, issued between the 1890s and 1910s. Condition and Provenance: This set of twelve Qing Dynasty 20-cent silver coins covers five major mints: Beiyang Machinery Bureau, Jilin Provincial Mint, Fujian Provincial Mint, Jiangnan Provincial Mint, and Northeast Mint. Collected and organized by an early collector, it contains no counterfeits or later substitutes. Each coin is made of pure silver with a naturally formed patina and a soft, gradual color gradient. It has never undergone acid washing, chemical cleaning, or artificial aging. All inscriptions (Chinese and Manchu), stars, and beaded edges are clear and sharp, and the dragon design details are intact. There are only minor signs of circulation wear, with no obvious stamping marks, large scratches, deformation, or bending. The outer beaded decoration is complete and continuous, without missing beads, curled edges, or repair marks, and the coin surface is smooth without rust pits. This set of coins was originally consigned to a historic East Asian coin gallery in London and entered the collection of a private antiquarian coin institution in Florida, USA in 2025. New York, California, and Toronto are major trading centers for late Qing Dynasty machine-struck silver coins globally. Description: This complete collection comprises twelve late Qing Dynasty 20-cent silver coins, covering five major provincial mint types, including the Beiyang Machinery Bureau 20-cent, Jilin Province Guangxu Yuanbao, Fujian Provincial Official Mint Guangxu Yuanbao, Jiangnan Province Guangxu Yuanbao, and Northeast China Xuantong Yuanbao (1.44 kandaline). Such a complete set of coins from multiple mints is extremely rare, making it highly valuable for American collectors specializing in East Asian historical coins. The obverse of the Beiyang coins features the Manchu inscription "20 cents" in the center, surrounded by the year and star patterns, reflecting the cultural characteristics of the northern frontier. The Jilin coins feature the Tai Chi Bagua pattern unique to Jilin. The obverse of coins from Fujian, Jiangnan, and the three northeastern provinces features the inscription "Guangxu Yuanbao" or "Xuantong Yuanbao," accompanied by the Qing dynasty standard weight inscription "Guiping Yilu Silu." The reverse is adorned with exquisite imperial dragon patterns. Each coin was minted by official provincial mints using Western industrial casting equipment and sufficient mold pressure, resulting in a clear three-dimensional effect for all text and patterns. The silver alloy formula fully complies with the minting standards of the Qing dynasty's Ministry of Finance. The 20-fen silver coin was a major small-denomination currency in late Qing dynasty Chinese commerce. This complete set, covering multiple provinces, comprehensively showcases the different monetary systems of various provinces during the late Qing dynasty, possessing multi-layered research value, encompassing Qing dynasty metal smelting technology, local economic history, and coin collecting. All twelve coins retain their original circulation patina, untouched by artificial cleaning or polishing. The wear on the five mint versions is even, with no flawed coins affecting the overall quality of the set. Compared to loose coins, complete multi-province sets are superior in terms of aesthetic appeal and long-term appreciation, and their market value continues to rise at international overseas coin auctions.
