拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: 213 cm (83.86 inches) long, 83 cm (32.68 inches) high. This is a large 17th-19th century Qing Dynasty rosewood painting table with an interlocking arched back structure. Condition and Provenance: This table is entirely handcrafted from high-quality solid rosewood. Four straight, round legs support a rectangular tabletop made of five pieces of solid wood, framed around the edges with multi-layered melon-ribbed patterns. The table skirt and legs feature the signature interlocking structure, and the arched back braces are seamlessly bent from a single piece of wood, without any splicing or repairs. Five horizontal reinforcing braces beneath the tabletop stabilize the entire structure, making it sturdy and durable. The tabletop has a fine, dense, hair-like grain, covered with a deep luster formed by centuries of natural weathering. This table is in excellent condition, without cracks, defects, or signs of insect damage. Only faint natural wear marks from generations of gentle use are visible on the edges. This rosewood painting table has not undergone any later structural alterations, staining, or wood replacement; all original hand-crafted mortise and tenon joints remain intact. It circulated through antique furniture galleries in New York and was acquired in 2024 by a private collector in Florida specializing in Qing dynasty hardwood furniture. New York and California were the main global trading centers for Ming and Qing dynasty hardwood furniture. Description: This large Qing dynasty rosewood painting table features an interlaced arched back brace, a remarkable continuation of classic Ming-style furniture aesthetics. This interlaced structure originated in the Song and Yuan dynasties and became a popular choice for scholar's studies during the Ming and Qing periods. The simple round wood design eschews elaborate carvings, allowing the precious natural grain of the rosewood to become the visual focus. It was specifically designed for scholar's studies for painting scrolls and displaying antique treasures. Each structural component is meticulously carved from solid round rosewood, with clean and flowing lines. The multi-layered concave molding edges lend a soft, layered feel, enhancing its visual texture. The perfect curvature of each arched cross brace ensures structural stability while also giving it a simple and elegant aesthetic, perfectly complementing the understated beauty of traditional Chinese literati culture. Five equidistant horizontal supports beneath the tabletop effectively prevent deformation caused by temperature, humidity, and displacement, showcasing the exquisite and mature woodworking techniques of ancient China. Rosewood trees take hundreds of years to grow into usable large timbers; therefore, large rosewood tables in perfect condition with unaltered mortise and tenon joints are extremely rare on the global market. Most similar products on the market suffer from issues such as tabletop replacement, leg repair, or size alterations. This table, with its magnificent and balanced silhouette, luxurious high-grade wood, naturally aged smooth patina, and authentic traditional craftsmanship, is an important material reference for studying Qing Dynasty rosewood furniture making techniques and the interior design culture of literati. In the international world of Chinese antique hardwood furniture collecting, it is listed as one of the top rare collectibles, possessing extraordinary long-term value preservation and appreciation potential, and is an immortal treasure among Ming and Qing dynasty wooden furniture collections.
