拍品描述 翻译
Dimensions: Height: 24 cm (9.45 inches); Maximum width: 15 cm (5.91 inches); Period: 11th-12th century; Condition and provenance: Excellent, without cracks, damage, or signs of repair. The elegant spout, handle, and mouth are intact, and the molded melon petals are clearly defined. The glaze retains a soft luster, and naturally formed burial marks and characteristic firing marks are clearly visible around the unglazed foot. This piece comes from a private collection in Hong Kong. It was acquired by a prominent Hong Kong collector in the 1970s through the European art market and has been carefully preserved by him ever since. Description: This exquisite celadon ewer is one of the most representative ceramic forms produced by the Hutian Kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty. With its beautiful proportions, flared mouth, slender neck, and rounded melon petal shape, it perfectly embodies the understated yet refined style of Song Dynasty ceramics. Vertical petal-like lines cleverly divide the body into balanced sections, resembling a plump melon, symbolizing abundance and prosperity. The long, tall spout extends naturally from the shoulder, both aesthetically pleasing and easy to pour. Opposite the spout, a small hanging hole at the end of the wide handle allows for securing the original lid with a rope—a thoughtful design often found on high-end Song Dynasty teapots. This piece was made using a wheel-throwing technique and meticulously hand-polished, resulting in extremely thin walls and a beautiful silhouette. The entire body is covered in a Hutian celadon glaze, exhibiting a bright pale blue hue and a smooth, jade-like surface. Along the rim and raised melon-shaped ridges, the glaze gradually thins, subtly revealing the white porcelain body beneath, further emphasizing the sculptural quality of the vessel. The unglazed base of this celadon teapot retains authentic firing marks, including iron-stained kiln marks, spur marks, and concentric rings, clearly demonstrating traditional Song Dynasty kiln firing techniques. This elegant, practical, and beautiful celadon teapot, crafted with exquisite skill, is one of the most representative and popular vessel types in Song Dynasty ceramics and an outstanding example of the Hutian kiln's firing techniques.
