Dimensions:Overall Height 47 cm (18.50 in), Maximum Top Width 21 cm (8.27 in), European bronze enamel timepiece from the 19th centuryCondition & Provenance:The gilt bronze frame remains intact overall, the cloisonne enamel has no large cracks or color loss, only natural aged wear on partial gilding from decades of storage. The white porcelain dial with Roman numerals is crack-free, and the hand-painted porcelain plaque depicting noble lady and cherubs below retains full vivid pigment. All carved components including column capitals, top incense burner ornament and four base feet are complete without missing pieces. The rear bronze back panel is original to the clock, the internal mechanical movement has no broken parts, with no major post-production gilding touch-ups, repainted porcelain inserts or swapped hardware modifications. Classified as Western antique decorative miscellaneous art, this piece was collected in New York, USA, previously owned by a specialist European antique clock collector based in Manhattan, New York. It includes collection archives from a vintage antique gallery in Vancouver and professional appraisal certification for Western antique timepieces, free of aftermarket enamel retouching, dial replacement or chemical gilding refinishing alterations.Description:This 19th-century French gilt bronze cloisonne enamel mantel clock stands as a landmark work of European royal horological craft, extremely sought after on the North American antique market and highly coveted by elite European antique collectors across New York and Florida in the United States. Built in the classic square column fireplace clock silhouette favored by European nobility, the whole piece is cast from fine brass with full gilded finish. Four corner columns are carved in Corinthian European style with elaborate foliage scroll reliefs on capitals and bases, rich three-dimensional carving with layered fine details. The entire clock body is laid with deep sapphire blue cloisonne enamel inlaid with multi-color scrolling floral patterns in yellow, green, red and white; ultra-fine metal wire cloisonne lines deliver luxurious saturated color, characteristic of top-tier French champleve enamel craft. The clock’s crown is decorated with an ornate gilt bronze incense burner ornament wrapped with colorful enamel bands, paired with swirling scroll leaf handles on both sides and a floral carved finial atop the lid, intricate three-dimensional carving amplifies the opulent royal palace aesthetic of the piece. The front facade centers a round time-telling dial with white porcelain base decorated by delicate red floral Roman numerals. The dial’s core features embossed carved bronze cover for the mechanical movement, flanked by two holes for winding and time adjustment, paired with vintage styled metal hour and minute hands. Beneath the dial sits an oval hand-painted porcelain plaque illustrating a romantic Rococo garden scene: a noble lady playing with cherubs amid blooming red flowers, rendered with soft delicate brushwork and lively natural tones. The rear side is fitted with a full-size original hinged bronze back plate with a small side access door for movement maintenance, covered in authentic aged patina without replacement marks. Four petal-shaped gilt bronze feet at the bottom firmly support the whole clock with elegant balanced proportions. Fully intact 19th-century French gilt mantel clocks complete with original enamel, hand-painted porcelain plaques and unmodified factory hardware are quite scarce on the antique market; most comparable specimens suffer enamel peeling, broken porcelain or swapped mechanical parts. This untouched original clock retains all factory fittings, complete enamel decoration and intact hand-painted artwork with natural authentic age patina. It is perfectly suited for long-term special exhibitions at Western antique galleries in New York and Paris, permanent private antique clock collections overseas, and interior styling for European manor houses, classic American estates and mid-century luxury spaces to embody the grand romantic vintage aesthetic of European royal art.
