Dimensions: Overall Height 9cm (3.54in), Belly Diameter 9.5cm (3.74in), Yuan Dynasty, 13th to 14th CenturyCondition & Provenance: The censer body and vented lid form an original matching set, fully intact with no cracks, chips, restorations or warping. Thick uniform pale celadon glaze covers both interior and exterior, delivering soft jade-like subtle luster without large glaze loss or peeling. A band of reddish clay body is exposed on the trimmed mouth rim, the three animal feet, tall twin handles and movable hanging rings are all complete without damage. The unglazed base shows dry aged clay with even natural soil patina, no artificial polishing or aging treatment. Category: Post-Song ancient celadon porcelain, market destination: Hong Kong. This incense burner comes from the private collection of Mark Chan, a veteran specialist collector of Longquan celadon in Hong Kong. He acquired this piece at Sotheby’s Hong Kong Yuan & Ming Celadon Auction in 2018, complete original auction records, thermoluminescence dating report and official professional antique ceramic appraisal certificate are fully preserved.Description: This pale celadon three-foot incense burner with twin movable ring handles fired at Longquan kiln during China’s Yuan Dynasty is a premium incense ware crafted for ancient literati study rooms. It is composed of two matching pieces: the main burner vessel and a hollow vented lid, drawing design inspiration from ancient bronze ritual ding cauldrons while embodying the soft elegant aesthetic of Yuan Dynasty celadon. The burner features a plump rounded bulbous belly, short contracted neck and wide mouth. A pair of tall pointed sculpted ears are symmetrically molded on the neck, each fitted with a freely movable ceramic hanging ring for delicate visual appeal. Three outward flaring beast-hoof feet support the whole vessel steadily, with perfectly balanced harmonious proportions. The matching domed lid has a central cross-shaped hollow cutout to slowly release incense smoke during burning, blending practical functionality with ornamental beauty. The entire inner cavity and outer walls are coated with thick iconic Longquan pale celadon glaze. The rich velvety glaze boasts an even soft pale turquoise tone with fine translucent texture and natural nephrite-like oily sheen; only tiny natural aged specks appear across the glaze and do not harm the overall condition. Glaze is trimmed away on the mouth rim to expose the typical reddish clay body exclusive to Yuan Longquan wares, the clay is dense and hard. A large unglazed area occupies the center of the base, filled with dry loose ancient clay, glaze naturally drips along the base edge covered with original soil patina, a signature production feature of major Yuan Longquan kilns. The twin handles and movable rings are fired as one integrated piece without splicing, the three feet carry neat refined shaping, and the hollow vented lid showcases sophisticated craftsmanship. This censer combines archaic ritual vessel styling, top-tier pale celadon glaze color and ingenious functional incense design. Surviving Yuan Longquan incense burners are scarce, and flawless complete sets with original lids, intact movable rings and three feet are extremely rare. This specimen carries distinct authentic period clay and glaze markers, a fully complete matching set and pure consistent celadon glaze, serving as a standard surviving physical specimen of Yuan Longquan incense ceramics. It holds significant archaeological research value for Chinese ceramic history, elegant display aesthetic value for traditional Chinese study spaces and top-tier collectible value for worldwide antique celadon collectors.
