Provenance:Collection of Xincheng (1918-2001) and Xiaojing (?-1987) Zhang, acquired directly from the artist, thereafter by the family.Collection of Zhang Xincheng (1918-2001) and FamilyLots 253-256Mr. Zhang Xincheng, a native of Kaifeng, Henan Province, graduated in 1942 from the Department of Law at the Central Political Institute, the predecessor of National Chengchi University. He subsequently joined the Department of Civil Affairs of the Henan Provincial Government. In 1947, he traveled to the United States to pursue graduate studies in law at the University of Utah, where he received a master's degree in law. He later continued his doctoral studies at New York University and subsequently worked for Pan American World Airways and CBS until his retirement in 1985. His former wife, Ms. Chang Hsiao-ching (Zhang Xiaojing), served as a representative to the National Assembly of the Republic of China. She initially resided in Taiwan before moving to the United States, where she passed away in 1987. In 1990, Mr. Zhang married the distinguished kunqu performer Yin Jifang. Born into a family with a long tradition in Chinese opera, Ms. Yin has served as Vice President and Artistic Director of the Kunqu Society in New York and has devoted many years to the promotion and preservation of Kunqu abroad, making significant contributions to the continuation of this venerable art form.The present selection comprises four works of calligraphy from the collection of Mr. Zhang Xincheng and his family, all presented directly by the artists to Mr. and Mrs. Zhang. Acquired by the couple in Taiwan during the 1960s, the group includes two works each by Yu Youren and Dong Zuobin. Passed down through the family and carefully preserved for more than six decades, the works remain in an excellent state of preservation.于右任(1879-1964) 為張信誠作草書自作七律 水墨紙本 立軸款識:錦綉家山萬里同,尋詩處處待髯翁。今朝穩坐灘頭石,且看雲生大海中。信成先生正,于右任,基隆海灘小坐。鈐印:右任來源:張信誠(1918-2001)舊藏,直接得自藝術家,後由其家人遞藏至今。張信誠(1918-2001)及家族珍藏拍品 253-256張信誠先生,河南開封人氏,一九四二年畢業於中央政治學校大學部(即國立政治大學前身)法律系,旋即入河南省政府民政廳任職。一九四七年,負笈美國,入猶他大學法律研究所深造,獲法學碩士學位。其後復入紐約大學攻讀博士,嗣後任職於泛美航空公司及哥倫比亞廣播公司,至一九八五年退休。其前妻張曉景女士,曾任中華民國國民大會代表,初居台灣,後移美,於一九八七年辭世。一九九〇年,張先生與昆曲表演藝術家尹繼芳女士結縭。尹女士出身戲曲世家,任紐約海外昆曲社副社長兼藝術總監,多年致力於海外昆曲藝術之推廣與傳承,卓有貢獻。本次遴選出的四件張信誠先生及家族珍藏,皆為藝術家直接贈予張氏伉儷的書法佳構,乃張先生與曉景女士於六十年代於台灣所獲,其中包括于右任及董作賓法書各一對。作品遞藏於後人,珍護逾六十載,至今完好。

Buyers' Premium and Charges
For all Sales categories excluding Arms & Armour, Coins and Medals, Motor Cars, Motorcycles, Wine & Whisky
28% on the first $50,000 of the hammer price;
27% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $50,000 up to and including $1,000,000;
21% of the hammer price of amounts in excess of $1,000,000 up to and including $6,000,000;
and 14.5% of the hammer price of any amounts in excess of $6,000,000.
A 3rd-party bidding platform fee (the "3rd-party bidding platform fee") equal to 4% of THE BID PRICE shall be payable by buyers whose successful bid is submitted via 3rd-party bidding platforms, including Invaluable; Live Auctioneers; The Saleroom; Lot-tissimo.

Payment for purchases may be made in or by (a) cash, (b) cashier's check or money order, (c) personal check with approved credit drawn on a U.S. bank, (d) wire transfer or other immediate bank transfer, or (e) Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Discover credit, charge or debit card for returning clients only. Please note that the amount of cash notes and cash equivalents that can be accepted from a given purchaser may be limited.
