Description: The term 'Tweed' was coined accidentally almost 200 years ago, when a London cloth merchant misread a label marked 'Tweel' (Scottish dialect for 'twill') written on a consignment of cloth from a weaver in the town of Hawick a few yards from Lovat Mill, the home of Tweed since 1826! For this auction,?Huntsman travelled to Lovat Mill’s archives to select this Vintage Wool Heather and Beige Classic Tweed, and bought the last?meterage left of this exceptional vintage design. Originally developed over 100 years ago, the cloth has been carefully stored, waiting to be?claimed by?a future owner with the desire to own a piece of Tweed history.
The buyer will receive one suiting length, to be made into a bespoke Huntsman jacket with the full bespoke experience. Fittings will be carried out at one of Huntsman's locations, in Savile Row London, 57th St New York, or at one of their global trunk shows (see website for forthcoming trunk show dates and locations - www.huntsmansavilerow.com/trunk-shows/).
