Description: INSCRIPTION STELE WITH SHIVA AND PARVATI RIDING NANDI.Khmer. Angkor Wat period. 12th c.Sandstone. The rectangular stele is decorated at the bottom of each side with a representation of the divine couple on the bull in a leavy arch. Both sit cross-legged, Shiva is holding a staff, which is probably his trident. The stele is provided with a longer inscription, the base is completed with lotus leaves. One of the myths is that the two deities accompanied by their mount wandered through the villages. Whether they rode individually, both or both walking next to the animal, always somebody was complaining against it. So they decided to do as they pleased without listening to the others. Angkor Wat-Periode. 12. Jh. Sandstein. Die rechteckige Stele ist unten auf jeder Seite mit einer Darstellung geschmückt, die Shiva und Parvati auf dem Nandi-Stier reitend in einem Bl?tterbogen zeigt. Sie sitzen beide mit untergeschlagenen Beinen, Shiva h?lt einen Stab, bei dem es sich vermutlich um seinen Dreizack handelt. Die Stele ist mit einer l?ngeren Inschrift versehen und unten mit Lotosbl?ttern abgeschlossen.Eine der Mythen handelt davon, dass die beiden Gottheiten in Begleitung ihres Reittiers durch die D?rfer wanderten. Ob sie nun einzeln ritten, beide oder beide neben dem Tier herliefen, immer gab es Stimmen, die dagegen redeten.
